The fact that other children are curious and confused about their bodies is probably a good thing to share around, so each and every kid doesn't think they're alone. And, Christ, we're assigning this book to EIGHTH GRADERS. 25% of the kids will had sex within a year or two of the book being assigned: http://www.kinseyinstitute.org/resources/FAQ.html#Age Maybe at that point in kids' lives, we can at least acknowledge the fact with our children that penises and vaginas exist, and that they're sexual organs. But, no. The bubble-wrapped universe of literature we trap our children in can't handle even the smallest sharp edge of reality. The pathetic part is that this is the kind of stuff that kids need to encounter in order to grow into their sexuality.
