Why We’re Not Lynching Apple’s Phillip Shoemaker

August 24, 2010 Culture, geek, web 2 Comments

The web is up in arms about Apple App Store director Phillip Shoemaker following escorts and porn stars on Twitter. We’re here at Sex and the 405 refuse to jump on the bandwagon screaming hypocrite.

We believe in personal choice and freedom. Whatever value Shoemaker finds in these connections is for him to judge. He has a job with Apple to maintain the products they offer free of pornography, but that doesn’t mean the man shouldn’t be able to enjoy whatever he likes in his personal life. … Continue Reading

Submissive Slut Seeks Stud

Daisy Tralala Journey of a Submissive

I need a lot of sex. In fact, I’m nearly insatiable. When I don’t get enough cock I think about it incessantly. When I do get enough (which is rare) I spend a good deal of time recalling the highlights and having orgasmic aftershocks from the memories.

I love having sex with women, too, but I have to fuck men. If pussy is the appetizer then cock is the main course.

In my younger years I was made to feel ashamed of my strong libido and I did what I could to repress it. That culminated in a passionless marriage that finally exploded in a tsunami of lust. … Continue Reading

A Stripclub Movie To Rule Them All

August 23, 2010 Culture, Film No Comments

Our friend George Griffith has been slaving on From The Head, what could possibly be the indie flick of the year, about a bathroom attendant in a New York City stripclub based on Griffith’s own experiences in the mid-90s.

The film, an afternoon in the life of bathroom attendant Shoes, played by Griffith himself, features some 60 other characters, among whom, the Variety is reporting, are Scream‘s Matthew Lillard and The Big Lebowski‘s Jon Polito. … Continue Reading

Adult Site Founder Backs Conservative Candidate, Media Freaks Out

August 23, 2010 News, Politics No Comments

You may remember Cyan Banister, one of the founders of the only venture capital-backed adult startup, Zivity. Well, according to the Associated Press, Banister and her husband donated $4,800 to Rand Paul, a Republican running for Senate in Kentucky.

Why is this a big deal? Because Banister is a porn-peddler and Paul is a Republican, of course! … Continue Reading

Bill O’Reilly Exposes Gender Bias On The Factor

August 23, 2010 Hollywoody, News 2 Comments

Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian did a pictorial for Elle magazine’s September issue inspired by The Graduate — you guys remember the movie with Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman, original MILF?

FOX News’ Bill O’Reilly questioned guests about whether this was appropriate, saying he wasn’t into women at 16, just wanted to be a baseball player, then pointed out that if the genders were reversed this would have upset a lot of people. … Continue Reading

Love in the time of Sharia

August 21, 2010 Crime, News No Comments

Two star-crossed lovers, though this isn’t a Shakespearean play unfolding in fair Verona. It’s Kunduz province in Afghanistan, where local leaders are enforcing a move toward the harshest forms of physical punishment allowed by Sharia, or Islamic law. … Continue Reading

The Carnal Carnival

August 20, 2010 Culture, geek, Research, web No Comments

Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes if you dare! It’s real, it’s alive, it’s… your own body, its different parts, and the products from it!

That’s right, from the minds of the web’s most forward-thinking scientific bloggers comes The Carnal Carnival, a celebration of research centered around a different theme every month, beginning this month — with excrement.

Now, now, don’t be squeamish. It’s your body. It’s about time you took a moment to understand it a little bit better. Especially all those anal sex enthusiasts out there. As Tristan Taormino says, “shit happens.” Actually, we’re not sure that’s how she put it, but you know what we mean. … Continue Reading

Introducing Plan C

Most of us know Plan B, the emergency contraceptive that a woman can take up to 72 hours after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. Later this year, we will have a plan C — ella, an emergency contraceptive that can be taken up to five days after unprotected sex.

Watson Pharmaceuticals, the drug manufacturer, announced the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of ella on Friday.

Women receiving this emergency contraceptive will need a prescription for the pill. Plan B, on the other hand, is available over the counter. … Continue Reading

Gamers Won’t Be Seduced, Will Stare At Random Cleav Instead

That Steam allows the objectification and sexualization of female characters in a variety of its games but refuses to accept a game about actually engaging with women in a more interactive fashion is astonishingly backward.

FetLife Is Not Safe for Users

That the site doesn’t take measures to protect user content and has shown incompetence or negligence in regard to user privacy, all the while prohibiting victims from warning others about predatory behavior creates an environment where it is nearly impossible for members of the community to take care of themselves and one another. By enabling FetLife to continue espousing a code of silence, allowing the spinning self-created security issues as “attacks,” and not pointing out how disingenuous FetLife statements about safety are, we are allowing our community to become a breeding ground for exploitation.

Why You Should Vote No On Prop 35

Should people who benefit (parents, siblings, children, roommates!) from the earnings of “commercial sex acts” (any sexual conduct connected to the giving or receiving of something of value) be charged with human trafficking? Should someone who creates obscene material that is deemed “deviant” be charged as with human trafficking? Should someone who profits from obscene materials be charged with human trafficking? Should people transporting obscene materials be charged with human trafficking? Should a person who engages in sex with someone claiming to be above the age of consent or furnishing a fake ID to this effect be charged with human trafficking? What if I told you the sentences for that kind of conviction were eight, 14 or 20 years in prison, a fine not to exceed $500,000, and life as a registered sex offender?

Pretty and Calls Herself a Geek? Attention Whore!

If you are a woman, you might be given a chance to prove yourself in this community. Since there is no standard definition of what a “geek” is and it will vary from one judge to the next anyway, chances of failing are high (cake and grief counseling will be available after the conclusion of the test!). If you somehow manage to succeed, you’ll be tested again and again by anyone who encounters you until you manage to establish yourself like, say, Felicia Day. But even then, you’ll be questioned. As a woman, your whole existence within the geek community will be nothing but a series of tests — if you’re lucky. If you aren’t lucky, you’ll be harassed and threatened and those within the culture will tacitly agree that you deserve it.

Cuddle Chemical? Moral Molecule? Not So Fast

Zak’s original field, it turns out, is economics, a far cry from the hearts and teddy bears we imagine when we consider his nickname. But after performing experiments on generosity, Zak stumbled on the importance of trust in interactions, which led him, rather inevitably, to research about oxytocin. Oxytocin, you might remember, is a hormone that has been linked previously to bonding — between mothers and children primarily, but also between partners. What Zak has done is take the research a step further, arguing in his recent book, The Moral Molecule, that oxytocin plays a role in determining whether we are good or evil.

How to Avoid Pissing off a Stripper

Let’s talk about the strippers. Whether they like to be half-naked or not, whether they enjoy turning you on or not, there’s one thing they all have in common: they’re working. Whether you think that taking one’s clothes off for money is a great choice of career is really beside the point (is it a possibility for you to make $500 per hour at your job without a law degree? Just asking). These women are providing fantasy, yes, but that is their job. And as a patron of the establishment where they work, you need to treat them like you would anyone else who provides a service to you.
