Duct tape fail

You were into it. You like being told what to do, being restrained and made to beg. You didn’t mind the gag or the ropes. You didn’t even mind the duct tape even though it was a little tight. At least, you didn’t mind it until it was time to go back home and you noticed duct tape doesn’t just pull off.

Your favorite pants. It’s a full on crisis situation and you need to act fast, before someone figures out what you’ve been up to. What to do? … Continue Reading

Porn … Without Porn?

Porn without Porn

The imagination is rarely given enough credit. Think of the eroticism inherent in the careful W of skin on the nape of a maiko’s neck. Or the hint of cleavage created by toes in a pair of satin pumps. When was the last time you beheld something so suggestive it was more erotic than actually seeing the real thing might have been? … Continue Reading

Creepy Tales of Pleasure Fails from the ER

December 2, 2011 Diary 1 Comment

When pleasure goes wrong and you end up in the ER.

Anyone who has read Guts by Chuck Palahniuk knows that things can end very badly when we don’t carefully consider the risks of exercising our proclivities. But just in case you didn’t get the lesson (or you fainted during one of Palahniuk’s infamous readings of the story), we have some more gruesome tales for you, fresh from ER gossips around the country. … Continue Reading

First World Problems: What Would Your Fleshlight Signature Texture Feel Like?

First world problems: your fleshlight

It started innocently enough (doesn’t it always?), we were browsing the web when we arrived at the site for Fleshlight. The header got right to the point: “Get inside today’s hottest adult stars.” Below, we discovered a selection of some of porn’s most celebrated starlets, all posing with their Fleshlights.

Then we noticed something else: they each had signature textures. … Continue Reading

Days Like Today

November 30, 2011 Editrixial, L.A. Odes, Local, Vitals 1 Comment

There are days that you wonder why you’re still here. You sit in your car, idling in traffic on Sunset or Santa Monica and feel like bashing your head against the steering wheel. You imagine some other city you love and how easy it is to get around. You think about the rent and how much cheaper it is. You think about how much easier it is to meet people. You think about things you don’t get here in Los Angeles: seasons, a sky full of stars, a restaurant that doesn’t require a reservation for dinner.

The more you think about these things, the more impotent and out of control you feel. There is nothing for you here, no inspiration — nothing. Los Angeles is a farce. … Continue Reading

PSA: If You’re Going to Cheat, Do It Right

November 30, 2011 Lessons No Comments

Eliot Spitzer and wife Silda during a press conference after his indiscretions were discovered.

Cheating isn’t a noble thing. But if you have to do it, you’re going to do it right. That’s where we come in.

First, ask yourself: is the affair a supplement or are you looking for a way out? It’s essential that you face the root of this question. If you’re looking for a way out, buck up and end the relationship. No one should have to deal with the hurtful discovery of an affair. It’s not fair to anyone to be caught in your cowardly mess. Just admit that it isn’t working and address the dissolution of the relationship with care and maturity. … Continue Reading

How to get dumped on Christmas

Maybe you have no balls and can’t really offer a statement less vague than “this isn’t working.” Maybe you have and she just refuses to honor the breakup. Whatever the case (and yes, we’re totally judging you, as failure to disengage is a far more heinous crime than failure to engage), it’s time to call on your super douchebag powers.

We have just the weapon for the task. … Continue Reading

Ali Carter in a whipped cream bikini

Ali Carter in a whipped cream bikini in Varsity Blues. We can’t remember what the movie was about, but we will never forget the whipped cream bikini. It looks awkward now, laughable. We’ve graduated from cherry-nipples and a huge triangle-shaped covering down there.

Lucky for us, whipped cream has graduated, too. … Continue Reading

Remember When Jacking Off Caused Insanity?

November 27, 2011 Art, Books, Culture No Comments

Medical books are fun, especially the really dusty ones no one reads anymore with information no one believes anymore, like this 1845 tome describing mental illness, the main cause of which, of course, was widely believed to be masturbation — or should we say, self-pollution?

The Secret Companion

This is an engraving from The Secret Companion, a medical work on onanism or self-pollution, with the best mode of treatment in all cases of nervous and sexual debility, impotency, etc., by R. J. Brodie, 1845, Plate 2.

What a long way we’ve come — well, all of us except maybe for Christine O’Donnell.

Gamers Won’t Be Seduced, Will Stare At Random Cleav Instead

That Steam allows the objectification and sexualization of female characters in a variety of its games but refuses to accept a game about actually engaging with women in a more interactive fashion is astonishingly backward.

FetLife Is Not Safe for Users

That the site doesn’t take measures to protect user content and has shown incompetence or negligence in regard to user privacy, all the while prohibiting victims from warning others about predatory behavior creates an environment where it is nearly impossible for members of the community to take care of themselves and one another. By enabling FetLife to continue espousing a code of silence, allowing the spinning self-created security issues as “attacks,” and not pointing out how disingenuous FetLife statements about safety are, we are allowing our community to become a breeding ground for exploitation.

Why You Should Vote No On Prop 35

Should people who benefit (parents, siblings, children, roommates!) from the earnings of “commercial sex acts” (any sexual conduct connected to the giving or receiving of something of value) be charged with human trafficking? Should someone who creates obscene material that is deemed “deviant” be charged as with human trafficking? Should someone who profits from obscene materials be charged with human trafficking? Should people transporting obscene materials be charged with human trafficking? Should a person who engages in sex with someone claiming to be above the age of consent or furnishing a fake ID to this effect be charged with human trafficking? What if I told you the sentences for that kind of conviction were eight, 14 or 20 years in prison, a fine not to exceed $500,000, and life as a registered sex offender?

Pretty and Calls Herself a Geek? Attention Whore!

If you are a woman, you might be given a chance to prove yourself in this community. Since there is no standard definition of what a “geek” is and it will vary from one judge to the next anyway, chances of failing are high (cake and grief counseling will be available after the conclusion of the test!). If you somehow manage to succeed, you’ll be tested again and again by anyone who encounters you until you manage to establish yourself like, say, Felicia Day. But even then, you’ll be questioned. As a woman, your whole existence within the geek community will be nothing but a series of tests — if you’re lucky. If you aren’t lucky, you’ll be harassed and threatened and those within the culture will tacitly agree that you deserve it.

Cuddle Chemical? Moral Molecule? Not So Fast

Zak’s original field, it turns out, is economics, a far cry from the hearts and teddy bears we imagine when we consider his nickname. But after performing experiments on generosity, Zak stumbled on the importance of trust in interactions, which led him, rather inevitably, to research about oxytocin. Oxytocin, you might remember, is a hormone that has been linked previously to bonding — between mothers and children primarily, but also between partners. What Zak has done is take the research a step further, arguing in his recent book, The Moral Molecule, that oxytocin plays a role in determining whether we are good or evil.

How to Avoid Pissing off a Stripper

Let’s talk about the strippers. Whether they like to be half-naked or not, whether they enjoy turning you on or not, there’s one thing they all have in common: they’re working. Whether you think that taking one’s clothes off for money is a great choice of career is really beside the point (is it a possibility for you to make $500 per hour at your job without a law degree? Just asking). These women are providing fantasy, yes, but that is their job. And as a patron of the establishment where they work, you need to treat them like you would anyone else who provides a service to you.
